What are the secant piles, and when they are applied?

Secant pile is “slurry wall” method analogue. Secant pile is a modification of a bored pile.

Secant pile’s diameter is 620 and 750 mm. The distance between the secant piles centres makes up (0.8 – 0.9) d. Next nearest pile is reinforced.

Secant piles are used as belted and composite (enclosing and load-carrying) structures. The same as by the use of “slurry wall” method, the secant piles are used for shoring of the excavations, if it is needed to get an airtight wall.
